Smile [:)] Knocking up the wrong door all these years

Today (or rather, two day's ago) i demonstrate my lack of general knowledge.

Being of petite size, I have always had to alter my long sleeve shirts since my arms are never long enough. That meant trimming at the cuffs. But length is just one dimension; my body ain't broad either, so shirts that go beyond 14.5" for the shoulders fit me like a boy looking to last a shirt all four years in school.

I have to recognise that I stopped wearing school uniforms more than 12 years ago.

So naturally I was dismay, as usual, when the S-sized (american) shirts from Microsoft eCompanyStore arrived last month. It was almost an advertisement for me to patronise McDonald's if I am to fit "comfortably" into those shirts.

We have a part-timer house cleaner who has tailoring connections, and my mother suggested passing the shirts to her for trimming. My suggestion was whether it was possible to cut the sides to bring the shoulder line in closer to fit my frame. She said such work can be done.

Wow. And now I look back at my past shirts and wonder what I've done.

PS - To "defend" myself, I hardly wear proper business shirts since I have the "luxury" of wearing what a real software engineer should while working - boxers and singlet. [<:o)]
