    New web site

[A reprise of the 25th Nov post that got nuked due to a database mess-up and restore]

Wave good bye to the old Community Server :: Forums engine v2 I have been using the past two years. And welcome the latest Community Server offering from Telligent - version 2.1.

It was high time for me to engage in a change too. Forces that compelled me to quit procrastinating and move

    1. I have not been dealing with ASP.NET projects ever since taking on this current job. Sad case but enterprisey development somehow tend to take on the form of Windows Forms and other underlying aspects more often than ASP.NET. I needed to keep in touch with web development, especially with 2.0 and the rising wave that is AJAX and Atlas, Microsoft's own AJAX framework.
    2. IE 7 has a Javascript implementation that is incompatible with the old FreeTextBox that came with the old forums engine. It is not able to make a post due to its inability to recognise there is actually text in the post body TextBox. That means, as more friends install IE 7, they will be slammed with the broken application.
    3. There had always been a small intention to integrate the (previously) main site with the forums more seamlessly, and Community Server is just that.

That means the home page is "broken" for now with templated content. But I won't be dolling them up soon. I spent the past week skipping sleep to slowly conduct a step-by-step migration of the database through each of the incremental version upgrades, so I need a rest for the time being.
